Beckhoff at MOTEK 2012: Open automation solutions for feeding, assembly and handling technology

We will be presenting our PC- and EtherCAT-based automation solutions for assembly and handling technology to you at Motek 2012. In addition to new products such as the multi-touch panel or the new AM8000 servomotor generation, the Motek presentation will focus on the new XTS drive system (eXtended Transport System). We will show you how you can realise entirely new and flexible machine concepts with XTS and we look forward to your visit.

XTS: Optimised material flow for assembly applications

XTS combines the advantages of two proven drive principles: rotary and linear systems. The motor is completely integrated together with power electronics and displacement measure-

ment. One or more wireless movers can be moved highly dynamically at up to 4 m/s on an almost arbitrary and flexible path. XTS offers increased flexibility for the construction of automatic assembly and handling machines. XTS can be used as “standard hardware”; new or additional handling and assembly characteristics – for example, in the case of a change of product – are implemented on a software basis

TwinCAT 3: efficient engineering and free choice of programming language

TwinCAT 3 enables optimal distribution of applications to the CPU cores and is therefore able to make full use of the processor power. Efficient software engineering is enabled through embedding in Microsoft Visual Studio® as an integrated development environment. TwinCAT 3 supports all common programming standards, including C/C++ and IEC 61131-3 with object oriented extension. This means, for example, that the controller can be programmed in C/C++, while the system simulation is programmed with Matlab®/ Simulink®.

CX2000: Multi-core power on the DIN rail

Beckhoff offers more possibilities on the DIN rail with the CX2000 series: multi-core processors, numerous PC and I/O interfaces as well as fast internal communication based on PCI Express. The compact Embedded PCs form the ideal hardware platform for both central and local control architectures. The Embedded PC series in a sturdy metal housing offers three basic CPU modules: Intel® Celeron® 1.4 GHz single-core (CX2020), Intel® Core™ i7 1.5 GHz dual-core (CX2030) or Intel® Core™ i7 2.1 GHz quad-core (CX2040).

Multi-touch panel for maximum flexibility

The CP2xxx and CP3xxx Control Panel and Panel PC series are characterised by a modern operating concept with multi-touch display and single-touch functionality as well as an advanced, elegant device design. The panel generation offers numerous benefits, for example an optimised price-performance ratio. As built-in or mounting arm devices, the aluminium panels are extremely robust and are designed for use under harsh industrial conditions. Widescreen panels in various sizes and resolutions are available in addition to the classic display sizes in 4:3 format.

Servomotor with One Cable Technology

The rotary synchronous servomotors from the AM8xxx series are characterised by high dynamics, energy efficiency and low costs. One of the highlights is the One Cable Technology, with which the power and feedback systems are combined in a single motor cable. The AM8000 motors are the ideal servomotors for assembly and handling technology.
