End-to-end system solutions and energy-efficient drive technology will be the centrepieces of Yaskawa’s stand at this year’s Intertool (Vienna Trade Fair from 10–13 May 2016). Based on the motto “Total System Solutions and Green Performance”, the Robotics, Drives+Motion and Vipa divisions will be making a joint presentation at Stand A0900 in Hall A.
The Robotics Division will be demonstrating that technical uniformity in automation means optimised operating concepts accompanied by major simplifications in design and operation, with an application example at the stand. The cell will feature a Motoman MH5LF industrial robot with FS100 controls together with Vipa type 10ECO+ and 21” PPC touch panels. The robot is controlled using the touch panels.
In addition, numerous other Motoman robots can be viewed in action at the Intertool stand, for example the 4-axle Motoman MPP3S high-speed robot. Its parallel kinematics combines the speed of the Delta design with a high payload of up to 3 kg. Despite its compact design, the MPP3S has an impressively large working range.
Energy-efficient drive technology
As examples of energy-efficient drive technology, Yaskawa will also be unveiling several of its latest developments. As a regenerative direct acting inverter the U1000 matrix converter enables not only the efficient drive of asynchronous or synchronous machines; at the same time it feeds excess braking energy back into the network without a DC link. With the SPRiPM permanent magnet motor and the latest GA700 generation of frequency inverters, Yaskawa presents drive solutions of the highest efficiency class.
Implementation of motion control functions in PLC controls
Vipa’s new SLIO CPU iMC7 permits the direct implementation of motion control functions in the PLC. Communication between the Vipa SLIO CPU and Yaskawa drive modules takes place via EtherCAT. For the configuration of this kind of control unit the VIPA engineering tool SPEED7 Studio was extended to include Sigma-7 servo drives designed for EtherCAT communication.
