CANNON-Automata will present at SPS 2021 the new S1-PAC IIoT controller and the new generation of the real-time Ethernet stepper motor controller SMC4 with EtherCAT® and Sercos® interface.

S1-PAC – IIoT Controller

S1-PAC IIoT controllers have scalable performance and extensive panel and communication interfaces. They cover a wide range of applications, from edge controllers for IIoT applications to controls for universal PLCs and motion applications to multi-touch operator panels for sophisticated user interfaces.

S1-PAC IIoT controller: standalone or as a system unit for L1 / C1 panels

S1-PAC IIoT controllers are available as system units for L1 / C1 automation panels, in addition to stand-alone versions for control cabinet mounting. In this combination, they can be used as touch PLCs or web panels. The xS system units simply mount to the back of the panel, the display, touch, USB, and power supply are routed through the standardized electrical and mechanical interface.

SMC4 – Stepper Motor Control

The SMC4 stepper motor controller with RT-Ethernet interface is particularly suitable in robotics or 3D printer applications as an alternative to expensive servo drives.

Stepper motor control with EtherCAT® or Sercos® interface supports the standardized drive profiles of the two protocols. All functions required for operation on CNC or robot controls are fully implemented. These include, among other things, cyclic speed or position specification, positioning functions, and various start modes. Therefore, it is possible to use it in demanding motion applications with interpolation axes (eg, 3 and 5 axis machining processes) without problems.

Integrated I / O and stepper motor interface

Integrated I / O (4 digital outputs, 4 digital inputs, and an incremental encoder interface) allow the implementation of a complete positioning axis with enable and status signals, reference and limit switch inputs, as well as inputs for the safe disconnection of the output. stage. The stepper motor interface is designed for 2-phase stepper motors with up to 256 microsteps at a phase current of 10 A (12 A peak) and a supply voltage of 48 VDC.

Encoder interface

Expansion modules with interfaces for incremental or absolute encoders are available for complex position control tasks.

Optional second stepper motor interface

For multi-axis applications, the SMC4 stepper motor control can be expanded with a second output stage. This option allows the operation of two axes through a communication interface and therefore saves costs. The expansion module has the same performance data as the main output stage and is also equipped with digital I / O.
