Even more robust and versatile: the new photoelectric sensors

Contrinex is expanding its standard range of photoelectric sensors with new, robust M12M and M18M devices in a metal housing. The sensors are equipped with Contrinex’s exclusive ASIC technology and an IO-Link interface. Due to their robustness, they are particularly suitable for hygiene-critical applications.

With the M12M and M18M devices in a metal housing, the Swiss sensor specialist Contrinex has announced strong new additions to its proven standard range of photoelectric sensors. The new devices reinforce the successful M18P plastic housing series and are available with the same exclusive ASIC technology in diffuse, retro-reflective and through-beam variants as well as background suppression (M18M only). They offer best-in-class sensing distances at extremely competitive acquisition costs.

With Ecolab approval, M18P optos are already a popular choice for process engineers in the food and beverage sector. The new M12M and M18M devices not only offer the same proven detection ranges and resistance to washdown and process fluids*, but also bring additional robustness for environments where mechanical shock and excessive vibration are encountered. With robust, chrome-plated brass housings (M12M) and stainless steel housings (M18M) and shatterproof PMMA optics, these new sensors are at home in the harshest environments.

Full IO-Link functionality is a free option for M12M and M18M sensors (PNP versions). It enables real-time access to process data and functions such as B. user configurable outputs, sensitivity adjustment, event flags, dual channel operation and sensor temperature measurement. With ranges of up to 1.2 m (diffuse), 7 m (reflex), 30 m (through-beam) and 250 mm (background suppression), designers now have more choice, more performance and more protection.

Designed with the needs of OEMs and system integrators in mind, these new M12M and M18M metal case photoelectric sensors offer cost-effective yet high-performance solutions for many industrial sectors.
