The industry is under high pressure to change, from the energy crisis to supply chain stress. How is it progressing at the same time as the transformation to smart production? And what contribution does control, switchgear and mechanical engineering make with consistent data from engineering to plant operation?
Rittal, EPLAN, CIDEON and German Edge Cloud will discuss these questions with visitors to the SPS in Nuremberg and show how they use domain knowledge to drive forward solutions in the relevant ecosystems.
At the SPS in Nuremberg, Rittal, EPLAN, CIDEON and German Edge Cloud will show how to connect three ecosystems with their respective digital twins for smart production: systems, products and manufacturing processes. “The data are created in ecosystems that are often still patchily networked today. If it is possible to create a complete digital twin for plants, products and manufacturing processes and to connect them intelligently, that is a lever on the way to smart production,» says Markus Asch, CEO of Rittal International and Rittal Software Systems. And adds: «The SPS is the ideal environment for dialogue with, above all, the control, switchgear and machine builders – and for answers to the question of how the data of the digital system twin can also be used in the end to add value in operation. There are great opportunities there.” The companies of the Friedhelm Loh Group support this with domain knowledge and specific solutions.
EPLAN and Rittal, together with the control, switchgear and machine builders, are driving the development of the digital twin of the machines and systems and making the data usable in operation. CIDEON increases data consistency around the digital product twin with experience in CAD/CAM, PDM/PLM and product configuration. German Edge Cloud uses the information from the system data for faster networking and to visualize the processes as a digital manufacturing twin. IIoT-supported production management with the ONCITE Digital Production System then increases the efficiency and flexibility of production.
Digital from engineering to operations
One focus at the joint stand 121 in hall 3 is data consistency along the entire value chain of control and switchgear construction – from engineering to supply and manufacturing to the operations phase of the systems. With the solutions from EPLAN and Rittal, panel builders and switchgear manufacturers not only save time and money in their value-added process. As a guarantor of seamless system data for maintenance, smart service and system networking, they are also sought-after digital partners for system operators.
More speed for electrical engineering and supply
The new EPLAN Platform 2023 speeds up engineering. With a new graphics engine, it ensures even faster 3D planning. An international macro administration to support different standards further accelerates the process. EPLAN eSTOCK supplements the central parts management in the cloud. EPLAN Harness proD now also supports users with everything to do with machine cabling. Rittal accelerates the supply chain with configurators and quickly deliverable system technology, which now also further integrates the compact AX series as a fully-fledged system compact enclosure. Of course, the presence at the trade fair also includes new products from all areas of the Rittal system. Regardless of whether it is used in industry, energy or IT – the portfolio is available from stock.
New machines and software for the workshop
A Rittal trade fair highlight is the Wire Terminal WT C10. With the new version of the fully automatic wire assembly machine, wires are assembled ten times faster than by hand. The further development offers numerous improvements, for example through a modular approach to the feeding and output of the wires with a new wire storage system and quickly exchangeable feed blocks. The new software architecture of the Wire Terminal ensures seamless integration into the data workflow of the RiPanel Processing Center. This job management software can also be seen at the fair with an update. Improved change management and the integration of UNC threads for the US market are new.
The top innovation from EPLAN for the control cabinet construction workshop is Smart Mounting. The new software now also visualizes the mechanical and electrical components when constructing the control cabinet, while EPLAN Smart Wiring guides you through the wiring. Thanks to precise work instructions and 3D visualizations, the expansion is easier and error-free – without long training of workers. Visitors can also get further insights, process analysis and strategy advice at the EPLAN and CIDEON booth, No. 238 in Hall 6.
IIoT data for agile manufacturing management
The operations phase of the systems is about more than maintenance advantages through system data in the digital circuit diagram pocket ePocket, 75 percent energy savings with new Blue e+ cooling units or smart services. German Edge Cloud shows how the efficiency and flexibility of production can be increased when data from industrial IoT applications flows into the agile management of production processes. The ONCITE Digital Production System, recently rated «Best in Class» by Pierre Audoin Consultants (PAC), combines formerly separate core components of digital production in a system with flexible architecture: agile production management with MES and MOM functions, Industrial IoT as a database and Low-code development for easy application development.
