The SD4S series, successor to the SD2S family, is now fully available. At SPS 2026 in Nuremberg, SIEB & MEYER will show the whole range alongside the SD4B and SD4M series, including a customized 350 kW SD4M drive.
With the SD4S line now complete, SIEB & MEYER can offer a direct replacement for every device in its earlier SD2S family. The new generation is built on revised technology and, according to Markus Finselberger, head of sales for drive technology at SIEB & MEYER, the successor units are more economical, more compact and more efficient than the devices they replace, giving machine builders a straightforward upgrade path.
Designed for high-speed motors
The SD4x generation was engineered specifically for high-speed motors. Compared with conventional drive solutions, it noticeably cuts motor losses, and output frequencies of up to 6,000 Hz make speeds possible that were difficult to reach before.
Together with an SD4M unit, the SD4S devices cover the full output range of the former SD2S series, while leaving room for customer-specific designs. Typical applications are demanding high-speed machines such as wafer dicing systems and machine tools, grinding machines in particular. The series has also been optimized for screwdriving technology, a field SIEB & MEYER has supplied for many years.
Three series, one broad power range
- SD4S: output powers from 0.8 to 56 kW.
- SD4B: two compact frequency converter models for the low-power range of 0.3 to 1.0 kW, typically found in dental milling machines and micro-cutting applications.
- SD4M: multilevel technology for the high-power segment, used for example in turbo blowers and turbo compressors. Units are currently available in the 62 kW class, and SIEB & MEYER plans to add several models up to 500 kW.
At the show, visitors will see the full SD4S lineup from 0.8 to 56 kW, supported by SD4B and SD4M devices that together span 0.3 to 490 kW. A customized 350 kW SD4M will illustrate what the family can achieve at the top end.
