Sigmatek has added two new CPU modules to its S-DIAS control system. The CP 401 and CP 511 are built on the company’s EDGE3 technology and include hardware-based security functions, giving machine builders a compact controller platform designed with the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) in mind.
CP 401: a controller only 12.5 mm wide
The CP 401 targets compact control tasks. It runs on two 800 MHz processor cores with 512 MB of LPDDR4 RAM and offers Ethernet, CAN and a USB 2.0 Type-C port for communication. At 12.5 x 104 x 72 mm, it takes up no more space on the DIN rail than a standard S-DIAS I/O module.
CP 511: more performance and more interfaces
For applications that need extra computing power, the CP 511 combines two 1.2 GHz cores with 1 GB of LPDDR4 RAM. Its connectivity is broader, so it fits into different automation topologies:
- 2 x Ethernet
- VARAN, EtherCAT and CAN interfaces
- 2 x USB 2.0 Type-C
- Integrated real-time clock
The module measures 25 x 104 x 72 mm.
Security by design
According to the manufacturer, both CPUs follow a security-by-design approach, with protection anchored in the hardware rather than added later in software. This helps machine and plant builders prepare their control architecture for the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act.
With these two modules, the new CPU generation covers the range from small, cost-sensitive machines to more demanding control applications within the same S-DIAS system. Sigmatek will show both CPUs at SPS 2026 in Nuremberg (Hall 7, Booth 270).
