NORD DRIVESYSTEMS NORDAC PRO SK 500P frequency inverter for control cabinet installation with display and keypad

ith the NORDAC PRO SK 500P, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS offers a frequency inverter designed to act as the control hub between the automation system and the axis. Its wide range of interfaces makes it easy to integrate into existing automation environments, where it controls both the drive and connected peripherals.

The inverter delivers precise control of asynchronous and synchronous motors, with or without encoder feedback. It handles overloads of up to 200%, keeps speed stable regardless of load and supports dynamic start and stop sequences.

Positioning is built in through the POSICON function. Drives can move to a large number of absolute positions or perform incremental feeds on endless-loop axes. On-board functions also make it straightforward to synchronise several drives on the same axis, or to sequence multiple axes with encoder evaluation, a typical requirement in warehouse and storage systems.

One inverter series as the cabinet standard

The NORDAC PRO SK 500P covers a broad spectrum of drive applications:

  • Hoists and lifting gear, thanks to overload capacity of up to 200%.
  • Pumps, using the integrated PI controller.
  • Highly dynamic applications, with encoderless CFC (current flux control) open-loop operation.

Because one series can handle so many tasks, it can become the standard inverter in the control cabinet. That simplifies purchasing, warehousing and spare parts management.

Fast integration and commissioning

NORD has put the focus on simple system integration. The multi-protocol Ethernet interface supports four Industrial Ethernet protocols, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT and POWERLINK, selectable by parameter.

The integrated PLC works as a soft PLC for drive-related functions. In a larger automation architecture, the inverter can take over specific tasks to offload the main PLC, or make smaller PLCs unnecessary. In single machines it can run stand-alone, with no higher-level controller at all. The result is faster commissioning and less effort for wiring, installation and maintenance.

More free space in the control cabinet

The series covers power ratings from 0.25 kW to 160 kW in a compact design, and up to 22 kW it is available in book-size format. Depending on the system architecture, the integrated functions can free up slots in the cabinet, remove the need for additional cabinets or even replace the higher-level PLC.

Three configuration packages

The NORDAC PRO family is available in three configuration packages tailored to the application: a machine inverter for standard tasks, and two application inverter variants for networked drive systems.
