Machines are getting more compact while their pneumatic airflow needs keep rising. Does that mean OEMs have to move to a larger valve platform?

Machine builders in factory automation, packaging, water treatment and automotive production keep running into the same problem: machines are getting smaller, but the pneumatic system still needs more airflow. The usual fix is to move up to a larger valve platform. That solves the flow issue but brings new headaches: different interfaces, new configurations and changes to a machine architecture that already works.

Emerson has designed the AVENTICS™ XV05 High Flow Valve System to close this gap.

Same XV platform, more flow

Now available worldwide, the XV05 High Flow extends the existing AVENTICS XV platform. It keeps the same architecture, electrical connection options, communication protocols and modular design that machine builders already know. What changes is the flow rate: up to 1,200 L/min, compared with 1,000 L/min for the standard XV05.

The extra airflow comes from larger ports and dedicated high-flow fittings, used only where the application needs them. Because the new version is compatible with the standard XV05, High Flow and standard valve modules can be combined in the same valve system. Engineers can add flow capacity exactly where it’s needed without oversizing the entire manifold.

Flexible porting for new and existing machines

The XV05 High Flow comes with front, top and bottom porting. This lets design engineers add more airflow to both new designs and existing machine layouts without reworking the overall pneumatic architecture.

Typical applications include:

  • Pilot valve systems for process valves in water and wastewater treatment
  • Package molding equipment
  • Slicing and cutting units that need high actuator force
  • Cleaning systems
  • Pneumatically driven winches in oil and gas operations
  • Automotive production equipment with high airflow demands

Availability

The AVENTICS XV05 High Flow Valve System is available now and can be ordered through Emerson’s XV Online Configurator.
