LMI Technologies has launched the Gocator® 2D Smart Camera series, a groundbreaking class of industrial vision systems. These devices deliver high-speed imaging and high-performance processing via NVIDIA Orin NX, featuring native edge AI, rapid deployment, and factory-ready integration—all within a single ruggedized housing.

Built upon the field-tested Gocator® ecosystem and powered by GoPxL® inspection software, these cameras provide LMI’s signature industrial reliability for 2D inspection without the need for external PCs or cloud dependency. Utilizing intuitive browser-based drag-and-drop workflows, users can design, validate, and deploy inspections in hours rather than weeks. This translates to faster commissioning, lower total cost of ownership (TCO), and deterministic real-time performance on the factory floor.

Intelligent 2D Vision: Power at the Edge

Gocator® 2D Smart Cameras consolidate the sensor, processor, and vision software into a single IP67-rated industrial unit, eliminating the complexity and maintenance associated with traditional PC-based setups. Available in 5 MP and 12 MP global shutter models, they capture low-noise images at speeds up to 84 fps with sub-10ms latency, making them ideal for high-speed production lines.

The device’s integrated AI and rule-based vision tools operate in parallel to handle diverse tasks—such as defect detection, measurement, OCR, barcode reading, and color inspection—directly on the camera. Native support for EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, and MQTT ensures seamless connectivity with modern automation environments and PLCs.

GoPxL: A Unified Vision Platform

At the core of the system is GoPxL, LMI’s unified vision software. This platform supports live debugging and replay-based validation, allowing users to combine AI-driven tools with traditional vision algorithms in a single process. GoPxL is open and extensible, supporting Python scripting for developers with highly specialized requirements.
