ABB Robotics has introduced OmniCore EyeMotion, allowing any OmniCore-equipped robot to perceive its environment through any external camera or sensor and adjust in real time, even in intricate applications.
“During the last ten years, we have developed AI vision to provide robots with ‘eyes’ that can perceive the world in 3D, although this once necessitated sophisticated camera equipment,” stated Marc Segura, President of ABB Robotics. “OmniCore EyeMotion empowers any robot to perceive and comprehend its surroundings in one step, enabling a diverse array of 2D and 3D vision applications, enhancing independence and adaptability.”
Created for users of every skill level, the new software features an easy web interface that allows for quick image capture and recognition using drag-and-drop sensors or cameras. It is completely incorporated into ABB’s software suite, enhancing RobotStudio®, the leading programming and simulation tool globally, to facilitate quick setup and implementation. It reduces commissioning time by as much as 90% when compared to tailored solutions
OmniCore Intelligent Imaging System will transform a wide range of robot tasks, from item sorting to quality inspection, across sectors from automotive and electronics manufacturing, to logistics, packaging, and food and beverage.
In more complex applications, OmniCore EyeMotion can be combined with ABB’s unique Automatic Path Planning Online, which can plan and execute the optimum, collision-free paths around obstacles and moving objects in real time, continually and without human intervention, increasing autonomy and reducing cycle times by up to 50 percent.
