AS-Interface keeps growing faster than the industrial automation market as a whole. According to the latest notary statistics of the AS-International Association, registered ASi device sales rose by 14% worldwide in the first half of 2026. North America stands out with a 24% increase, while Europe also reached double-digit growth.
AS-Interface growth in H1 2026 by region
The figures compare reported unit sales in the first half of 2026 with the same period of 2025. They are compiled independently through the association’s notary statistics.
| Region | Change in reported unit sales (H1 2026 vs. H1 2025) |
|---|---|
| Worldwide | +14% |
| North America | +24% |
| Europe | +16% |
In other words, all three regions grew at double-digit rates. However, the North American market shows the most dynamic development.
How ASi compares with the overall automation market
To put these numbers into context, the association compares them with general market indicators. Market analyses by Research and Markets and Fortune Business Insights expect the global industrial automation market to grow by roughly 7 to 10% in 2026. AS-Interface is therefore growing clearly faster than the market average.
The gap is even wider in North America. According to the Association for Advancing Automation (A3), industrial robot orders in the region rose by 2% in the first half of 2026. In the same period, ASi unit sales increased by 24%.
Of course, these comparisons have limits. The market segments and metrics are different. The ASi statistics count reported device units, while some external figures are revenue forecasts for other segments. Even so, the trend clearly points upwards.
Why AS-Interface is still gaining ground
AS-Interface is a mature fieldbus for the sensor and actuator level. Nevertheless, it continues to win new applications. The association highlights three main reasons:
- Simple installation: devices are connected quickly to the network.
- Efficient wiring: fewer cables and less effort in the control cabinet and in the field.
- Continuous development: the latest generation, ASi-5, keeps the technology ready for modern automation tasks.
For an overview of ASi-5, see our article on the advantages of ASi-5 technology. In addition, our report on automating packaging machinery with ASi shows a typical use case.
What it means for manufacturers and users
For existing ASi manufacturers, the results confirm a healthy demand. For companies without ASi products, the numbers are also an interesting signal. A growing installed base can justify adding ASi devices or gateways to their portfolio.
For machine builders and end users, the growth also means a wider choice of compatible components. Consequently, ASi remains a safe option for simple, cost-effective connection of sensors and actuators.
