Mitsubishi Electric Europe B.V. has introduced DataNavigateApp, a web-based production analytics tool engineered to assist manufacturers in optimizing machine performance, reducing downtime, and monitoring energy consumption.
This rollout addresses the growing need for industrial facilities to boost efficiency and lower power consumption while navigating rising operational expenses, strict manufacturing targets, and limited engineering staff. Although modern factories gather vast amounts of equipment data, converting this information into actionable floor-level insights remains a significant challenge for many teams.
DataNavigateApp is a specialized tool created for the MELSEC iQ-R series C Intelligent Function Module by Mitsubishi Electric. Installed directly through an SD memory card, this web-browser solution enables shopfloor visualization, helping industrial companies take their initial steps toward smart factory adoption, IoT, and digital transformation. The software is built upon three foundational pillars: rapid installation, remote monitoring, and streamlined data gathering.
Users can set up the application intuitively via any web browser without writing code, eliminating the need for expert knowledge in C or ladder programming. Furthermore, operators can review equipment status and manufacturing trends remotely on tablets or PCs, removing the dependency on dedicated HMI hardware. In addition, DataNavigateApp facilitates seamless data retrieval from both Mitsubishi Electric systems and third-party PLCs using standard industrial protocols. If the current CPU module already stores manufacturing metrics, this data can be visualized immediately without complex integration efforts or changes to existing PLC logic, making it ideal for mixed-vendor setups and legacy brownfield facilities.
The platform also allows for a scalable, step-by-step implementation. Rather than committing to a site-wide rollout on day one, companies can start by tracking a single piece of machinery or assembly line, expanding the deployment across the wider organization later.
Daniel Sperlich, Strategic Product Manager Controllers EMEA at Mitsubishi Electric, noted: “While numerous manufacturers already possess the necessary data, converting those numbers into practical, real-time insights for the factory floor continues to be a major obstacle.”
The platform helps manufacturers address a range of common production challenges, including output instability, unplanned downtime, rising energy consumption and performance degradation. By visualizing equipment operating status and operational trends, identifying factors affecting operating time, highlighting wasted power consumption and supporting predictive maintenance, the solution enables teams to prioritize improvements more effectively and respond more quickly to emerging issues.
It is designed to operate alongside existing equipment via standard PLC communication functions, allowing manufacturers to introduce production monitoring across mixed-vendor or brownfield environments without significant disruption to running operations.
Information is visualized through intuitive graphical dashboards, allowing users to compare operational data side-by-side across different time periods, machines, or production conditions. This helps teams identify trends, prioritize improvement opportunities, and respond more quickly to operational issues. The result is a simple but powerful shift: faster decisions, clearer priorities, and measurable improvements in machine performance.
