At AMB in Stuttgart (15–19 September 2026), FANUC will be presenting the latest developments in the fields of control and drive technology, robotics and machine tools. There will be a particular focus on artificial intelligence and digital technologies, which are becoming increasingly important for industrial applications. These include new possibilities in the fields of simulation, digital twins and Physical AI, which FANUC is driving forward in collaboration with partners such as NVIDIA and Google.
A dedicated area of the FANUC stand (Hall 6, Stand D10) is devoted to such innovation partnerships. Visitors will learn how the integration of the ROBOGUIDE simulation software into NVIDIA’s open reference framework, ‘NVIDIA Isaac Sim’, enables high-precision digital twins. Robot movements can be simulated virtually, and programmes can be taught, executed and verified – with the aim of planning processes more efficiently before actual commissioning, avoiding errors and accelerating implementation in production.
AI solutions such as Agentic Digital Twin exhibited in the area support CNC tasks such as the automation of simulation workflows via MCP server. Other FANUC solutions help users to programme machines more easily. For example, G-Code Guidance and Process Based Programming simplify the creation of G-Code programs in the shop floor.
The new FANUC 500i-A series takes centre stage in the CNC section. The control system is designed for high machining performance, intuitive operation and digital integration. The combination of CNC and Digital Twin helps users to review and optimise machining processes and apply the results to actual machine operation. The benefits include shorter cycle times, enhanced functions for 5-axis machining, improved surface quality, and new possibilities for simulation and networked applications.
Among the machine highlights at AMB is FANUC’s ROBODRILL D28LiB5ADV PlusY-500 machining centre with a 28-station automatic tool changer instead of the usual 21. Combined with an extended travel range and a 5-axis table, the machine is also suitable for larger and more complex components. At the trade show, the ROBODRILL will be machining a fork bridge made of high-strength aluminium live on stage – an example of dynamic, cycle-time-optimised machining.
A second ROBODRILL demonstrates its versatility in machining various steel components. In addition to a medical technology component made from stainless steel (1.4301), the machine demonstrates thread cutting (M24) and a 40 mm through-hole (16MnCr5). An education cell designed for school use also illustrates just how easily FANUC machines can be automated: here, a CRX cobot loads and unloads another ROBODRILL. A major advantage is that the CRX can also be integrated into existing systems without having to modify the machine’s control programme.
The exhibition display is complemented by the ROBOCUT C400iC wire-cut EDM machine, which allows for the clamping of multiple workpieces, features a core-drilling function for unmanned operation, and offers particularly straightforward machine set-up.
Automation remains a key theme, which is why robotics plays a special role at the FANUC stand. The new R-50iA robot controller combines a compact design, higher computing power and certified cyber security. A robot milling cell featuring the M-10/12-14D demonstrates the opportunities this offers for machine builders and users. The high-precision motion control of the R-50iA, an additional force sensor and a 3D vision system illustrate just how flexibly complex machining processes can be implemented using FANUC solutions.
