At Compamed 2026, Festo will present the CECC-AX, a compact controller designed for flexible life sciences applications. Its main feature is that it brings classic PLC programming and Python together on a single device.
Users can program it as a conventional PLC, extend its functions with Python, or combine both approaches, depending on what the application requires.
Designed for compact laboratory and diagnostic devices
The CECC-AX is intended for compact benchtop instruments and subsystems used in sample preparation, pre-analytics and the automated handling of liquids and consumables. Festo will show it at the trade fair in a liquid-dispensing application. The demonstration covers a complete software solution for pressure-controlled dispensing, designed to deliver precise, simple and reliable results.
Wide range of interfaces and secure by design
The controller offers Ethernet and EtherCAT connectivity, additional fieldbus options, serial interfaces, and digital and analog inputs and outputs. This makes it easy to integrate into many different device architectures. Festo also took the requirements of the EU Cyber Resilience Act into account during development, which helps device manufacturers meet upcoming cybersecurity obligations.
Fluid control and motion from a single source
With the CECC-AX, Festo extends its offer for laboratory automation, diagnostics and medical technology. The company supplies fluid control and motion technology from a single source, ranging from standard components to customer-specific subsystems. Its compact and easy-to-integrate solutions, grouped under the “Seamless Automation” concept, are tailored to each customer’s devices and processes.
