Messe Düsseldorf is broadening its footprint in the Middle East and North Africa food and packaging sector with the launch of Morocco Food World, a new trade fair that gives interpack exhibitors a direct route into fresh business opportunities across the region.

The show marks Messe Düsseldorf’s first dedicated event in the MENA region and is scheduled for autumn 2027. It will be organised in partnership with the Fédération Nationale de l’Agroalimentaire (FENAGRI), Morocco’s national food industry association.

Morocco Food World will center on food production while reinforcing the interpack alliance’s growing footprint in North Africa. As food manufacturing scales up and modernises, demand rises for advanced processing equipment, safer production methods and cutting-edge packaging technology — making the combination of food, processing and packaging a logical fit for the interpack network’s international lineup.

For Messe Düsseldorf, the move into Morocco builds on a MENA strategy that began in Egypt in 2019, where Food Africa and interpack Middle East Africa in Cairo already pair food production with processing and packaging technology under one roof. Morocco adds a new dimension to that network: located close to Europe, tightly linked to European markets, and offering a gateway into West Africa, the country is well positioned to grow into an international hub for food, processing and packaging.

“We are delighted to be working with our partners to establish a new trade fair — Morocco Food World — in a market where so much is happening right now,” said Thomas Dohse, Director of interpack at Messe Düsseldorf. He pointed to Morocco’s fast-moving food sector, its investment in modern manufacturing, and its role as a bridge between Europe and Africa as the key drivers behind the opportunity, adding that the goal is to connect people, businesses and markets and unlock new prospects for clients in the region.

A food sector driving demand for new technology

Morocco has emerged as one of North Africa’s leading economic and industrial hubs, with growth forecasts of roughly 4 to 4.5 percent for both 2026 and 2027. Heavy investment in infrastructure and industry, strong economic ties to Europe, and access to West African markets all add to the country’s strategic weight.

Within that picture, the food industry stands out for processing and packaging suppliers. Morocco’s agricultural and food sector spans exports of fruit, vegetables, fish and seafood, and processed goods, while its domestic market continues to expand. Rising expectations around quality, workmanship, product safety and international marketing are pushing local producers to modernise — fuelling demand for efficient processing technology, automation, quality assurance systems, and packaging materials and solutions.

That is the gap Morocco Food World is designed to fill. Through FENAGRI, Messe Düsseldorf gains a partner deeply connected to Morocco’s trade associations and food companies. The show will bring together manufacturers, processors, retailers and international buyers with suppliers of products, technologies and services — giving interpack alliance exhibitors direct access to an industry that is actively investing in its production capabilities.

With Morocco Food World, the interpack alliance adds another strategically important location at the crossroads of Europe and Africa, strengthening its international network across the processing and packaging sector.
