KUKA is enhancing its range for challenging heavy-duty applications with the KR TITAN ultra. The robot merges extensive reach with accurate dynamics, creating new opportunities in automotive production, battery and large part management, and heavy logistics. Soon after its debut in the market, it was sent for integration to PIA Automation at an automotive client.

The KR TITAN ultra industrial robot is engineered for optimal efficiency under significant weights: capable of handling up to 1,500 kg and reaching distances of up to 4,200 mm with 1,000 kg payload, it facilitates the secure and effective manipulation of substantial, hefty items like battery packs, car body assemblies, and tools

Performance class redefined

The robust mechanics and precise motion control address processes in which stability, repeatability, and cycle time are equally important. “With the KR TITAN ultra, we are setting a new standard in the heavy-duty segment. The combination of payload, reach, and modular structure opens up completely new automation possibilities for our customers,” explains Maximilian Pettkuhn, Product Manager at KUKA.

Following the market launch of the most powerful version with a payload of 1,500 kg and a reach of 3,200 mm last year, two additional models are available since mid-January – with a payload of 1,000 kg and reaches of 4,200 mm and 3,700 mm. This allows integrators and end users to choose flexibly between different ranges depending on the application. The modular design concept facilitates planning, commissioning, and service throughout the entire life cycle.

Efficiency, precision, and low TCO

Thanks to its double link arm, the KR TITAN ultra offers outstanding moment of inertia and particularly stable kinematics. The design enables low TCO values over the entire life cycle, supported by minimal maintenance requirements and energy-efficient components.

Strong signal from Augsburg

The KR TITAN ultra marks an important strategic step for KUKA in the heavy-duty segment and underlines its claim to provide the strongest KUKA robot. Positive market response is already evident in initial projects – including an order from the automotive sector shortly after market launch, which is being implemented with PIA Automation. KUKA is thus sending a clear signal for productive, scalable, and safe automation solutions “Made in Augsburg.”
