microsonic expands its portfolio with the esf+1, a new ultrasonic label sensor designed for modern industrial labeling technology. It combines a slim, flat housing, maximum positioning accuracy, and intuitive operation in an advanced sensor concept.

Slim and Robust Fork Housing

The lightweight yet highly durable fork housing is made of a high-tech plastic with metal-like properties. The sensor’s flat surface facilitates cleaning and provides a clear view of the transmitter and receiver, which is advantageous in environments with paper dust or adhesive residue.

The flat lower arm of the fork allows for particularly close positioning to the dispensing edge. An asymmetric mounting adapter provides flexibility for installation to the left or right of the dispensing edge. For space-saving cable routing, the sensor features a rotating M12 connector, ideal for installation spaces with limited room.

The label material being used can be quickly and reliably taught (learning) at the touch of a button. The integrated IO-Link interface allows for complete sensor parameterization and integration into existing systems, including the transfer of material parameters to a recipe management system.

Two versions for different requirements

The esf+1 is available in two designs:

  • Pro version (500 kHz): for standard labels
  • Expert version (200 kHz): for hard-to-detect labels

Both versions are identical in construction and interchangeable. The expert version detects labels that were previously undetectable by ultrasonic sensors.

The esf+1 is ideal for labeling applications requiring maximum speed, maximum positioning accuracy, and maximum flexibility when handling a wide variety of labeling materials.
