These redesigned OX sensors easily manage intricate operations that previously demanded high-end camera systems or complex multi-sensor architectures. For instance, they accurately identify gaps, missing components, and defective pieces. Furthermore, measuring ranges reaching 500 mm alongside fields of view up to 300 mm unlock new engineering flexibility in system design.
How do the smart 2D profile sensors work?
OX sensors operate by evaluating height profiles using an onboard, sophisticated toolset designed to solve demanding inspection and positioning criteria cost-effectively. Because data processing happens directly inside the intelligent device, it delivers immediate actionable data—such as OK/NOK verdicts, part counts, or positional coordinates—without requiring an external controller or PC.
The core profile metrics are captured with an accuracy of up to 5 µm in the z-axis and a resolution down to 30 µm in the x-direction. Additionally, deploying these compact units is remarkably straightforward due to Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support and a broad range of integrated communication interfaces.
Web interface and live visualization for eased operation
In line with Baumer’s focus on usability, the compact OX family is exceptionally simple to configure and connect. The user-friendly web interface enables quick parameterization for up to 20 distinct tools without installing extra software.
