For applications in closed and well-protected rooms, drives do not need to be painted or coated. SEW-EURODRIVE therefore offers a sustainable and economical solution with its ECO2 gearmotors in an aluminum housing.
Both the production of paints and solvents and the coating process with subsequent drying consume a lot of energy and valuable resources. This kind of energy-intensive paint layer is unnecessary, especially for applications and systems in closed rooms that are well protected against heat, cold or moisture.
For this reason, SEW-EURODRIVE completely dispenses with any kind of coating for gearmotors with the new ECO2 design. The surfaces of the drive housings are mainly made of aluminum and therefore not susceptible to corrosion under normal ambient conditions. On the contrary, aluminum forms a natural thin protective layer when combined with oxygen.
As gearmotors without a coating layer are cheaper to purchase, the environment and customers benefit from the ECO2 design. In addition, the non-coated components can be recycled much more easily and environmentally friendly later on. Repainting after repairs is also no longer necessary. This improves the environmental balance and profitability far beyond the manufacturing process.
