Siemens is enhancing the successful Sinumerik Run MyRobot /Direct Control solution with new features and additional robot types through the Sinumerik Machine Tool Robot. The Sinumerik MTR allows a significant improvement in precision and efficiency throughout the complete workspace. MTR relies on a smart control concept that endows industrial robots with the attributes of machine tools.
This enables high-accuracy path applications, even when working with tough materials like steel, which require greater cutting forces and additional damping. In contrast to traditional industrial robots, the Sinumerik MTR addresses these issues with a 200 to 300 percent improvement in path precision and much greater dynamic stiffness. These features render the Sinumerik MTR perfect for sectors such as aerospace, defense, automotive, and numerous other high-precision robotic applications, including the post-processing of metal components produced via 3D printing.
Along with enhanced precision, the updated control concept results in a productivity boost of 20 to 40 percent. This renders the Sinumerik MTR particularly appealing for applications that do not use process forces, such as waterjet and laser cutting. The Sinumerik MTR is governed by Sinumerik One, the digital-native CNC developed by Siemens. With its digital twin, it serves as the essential component in digital transformation and aids in simulating and testing workflows in an entirely virtual setting.
