Energy Saving Begins with the Drive

Energy-efficient drive technology is a key lever for reducing operating costs and CO₂ emissions. The DR2C series synchronous motors from SEW-EURODRIVE meet the highest currently defined efficiency class, IE5, for variable-speed electric motors. DR2C synchronous motors are available from 0.25 kW to 90 kW. Designed for pure inverter operation, they offer a significant advantage over conventional line-commutated motors.

Two technologies – one goal: reduced energy consumption

Since spring 2026, the DR2C..U synchronous reluctance motors have been available. Their rotors, made of specially stamped steel sheets, operate with virtually no loss. The result: higher efficiency than conventional asynchronous or synchronous motors of comparable power – ideal for robust and economical applications.

The DR2C..A variants with internal permanent magnets (IPM) impress with particularly high power densities and equally high energy efficiency in class IE5. Both motor types combine the robustness of an asynchronous motor with the controllability and precision of a synchronous motor.

The DR2C.. motors unleash their full savings potential when used in conjunction with efficient gearboxes and intelligent frequency converters from the MOVI-C® automation system.
