WEG has launched the PLC200, the latest addition to its range of programmable logic controllers (PLCs). The PLC200 is designed to improve automation control in small and medium-sized businesses across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, process control, packaging, and infrastructure. The PLC200 stands out for its compact design and high-performance hardware, offering modularity, scalability, and intelligent connectivity in an optimized package.
Now available worldwide, the PLC200 combines fast processing, modular expandability, and integrated network connectivity in a small, efficient, and easy-to-deploy unit. With its user-friendly architecture and compatibility with WEG’s wide range of automation products, the PLC200 offers versatility and efficiency in small and medium-sized control environments.
The PLC200 operates on 24 VDC and features a 400 MHz ARM Cortex M7 processor. This helps ensure fast response times, reliable performance, and energy efficiency, even in harsh environments. It offers eight digital inputs and four digital outputs in a plug-and-play format, along with up to four high-speed dual-channel inputs reaching 150 kHz for time-sensitive operations.
“This launch underscores WEG’s commitment to affordable, cutting-edge solutions that improve efficiency and adaptability in today’s industrial environments,” said Aluisio João Corrêa, Automation Sales Supervisor at WEG. “The PLC200’s plug-and-play design simplifies installation and maintenance, while compatibility with WEG’s RUW100, PLC410, and PLC500 modules ensures a flexible and cost-effective approach to automation.”
Designed to enable connectivity with modern industrial communication networks, the PLC200 supports the Modbus TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol) and EtherNet/IP (Industrial Ethernet Protocol) via its built-in Ethernet port. Additionally, the PLC201 version, which shares all the other features of the PLC200 series, supports the CanOpen communication protocol. With CE and UKCA certifications (for the United Kingdom), the PLC200 series meets the highest international safety and quality standards.
One of the most valuable aspects of the PLC200 is its support for local expansion: the device supports up to eight expansion modules. This allows users to customize the configurations of digital and analog input/output cards, including temperature sensors such as thermocouples and resistance temperature detectors (RTDs).
The PLC200 is also fully programmable via WEG’s WPS® software, a tool for programming, monitoring, and configuring automation equipment. It supports Ladder Diagram (LD) and Structured Text (ST) languages, in line with the international standard IEC 61131-3. Designed for intuitive development and rapid debugging, WPS® streamlines workflows and increases productivity.
The WPS® software is available for free download from WEG’s official website and is regularly updated to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.
“We are committed to the continuous evolution of our PLC range in line with emerging market trends,” added Corrêa. “The launch of the new PLC200 underscores WEG’s strong commitment to helping industries significantly reduce energy consumption and commit to more sustainable practices.”
