KUKA is broadening its iiQKA.mxAutomation software interface to incorporate the industry standard through SRCI and is collaborating with Siemens for the integration. SRCI allows businesses to incorporate robotics with greater flexibility into their manufacturing processes. The interface works with the new KR C5 controller designed for iiQKA.OS2.

Seamless robot integration into complex production systems with the help of a central interface – this is how “easy to use” works. In a joint development process with the leading technology company Siemens, the iiQKA.mxAutomation interface from KUKA is now being expanded to include the SRCI industry standard. This extension ensures that robots from different manufacturers can be integrated into the PLC environment in a standardized way – regardless of the robot or PLC manufacturer.

This provides KUKA customers utilizing iiQKA.mxAutomation enhanced flexibility in the straightforward, quick, and easy setup and operation of their robotic systems. The established functions and libraries from earlier versions of mxAutomation remain available as an alternative to SRCI.

iiQKA.mxAutomation is compatible with the KR C5 robot controller for iiQKA.OS2 and is therefore ideal for future-oriented production. KUKA robots can be connected to common PLC systems via the software interface, which enables the seamless integration of robotics without specific KUKA Engineering know-how. The central programming solution saves time and money, especially for companies that want to automate their production with little prior knowledge. iiQKA.mxAutomation with the SRCI extension will be available in the third quarter of 2025.
