Phoenix Contact adds a pluggable IO-Link network module to its CONTACTRON speed starters up to 7.5 kW

Phoenix Contact has extended its CONTACTRON speed starter with a pluggable IO-Link network module, making motor control more flexible while keeping it simple. The device retains the familiar functions of the range and adds IO-Link communication, so it fits easily into any machine or system concept.

Fast startup and accessible data

Because the network interface is pluggable, the device can be commissioned quickly and is convenient to parameterize and diagnose. The IO-Link module gives direct access to operating, status and diagnostic data, information that helps increase system availability and makes maintenance easier to plan.

Plug-and-play installation cuts wiring effort considerably and simplifies integration into existing automation solutions. Data is also transmitted continuously and transparently down to the field level.

Integration into common engineering environments

To reduce programming and startup work, Phoenix Contact provides preconfigured function blocks for:

On the safety side, the basic device includes the Safe Torque Off (STO) function as standard. Parameterization is carried out through the USI interface on the network module, using a standard USB-C cable.

Connected control for three-phase asynchronous motors

Combined with the established functions of the speed starter, these additions give machine builders and system operators a high-performance solution for modern drive applications. Intuitive installation, digital networking via IO-Link and the modular design add flexibility, reduce engineering effort and keep machine communication ready for future needs when controlling three-phase asynchronous motors up to 7.5 kW.
