In the field of basic automation, it is often necessary to utilize the onboard peripherals instead of PROFIBUS or PROFINET encoders or additional Technology Modules.
The use of an external encoder and a measuring input via the HSC inputs (High Speed Counter) of the controller using technology objects is not currently supported by the SIMATIC S7-1200 G2. The “LHSCTO” library enables the connection of an external encoder and a measuring input via the HSC inputs (High Speed Counter) of the controller together with the technology objects “TO_ExternalEncoder” as an external encoder, “TO_PositioningAxis” as a additional encoder of a positioning axis and “TO_MeasuringInput” as a measuring input. The measuring input can be used for applications with print mark correction or positioning via print marks.
The enclosed documentation describes two configurations for the technology objects:
- Connection of an external encoder as a leading value together with the technology object “TO_ExternalEncoder” and a measuring input in conjunction with the technology object “TO_MeasuringInput”.
- Connection of an external encoder as a additional encoder of a positioning axis to the technology object “TO_PositioningAxis” and a measuring input in conjunction with the technology object “TO_MeasuringInput”.
Both configurations enable homing of the encoder (e.g. passive homing) and measuring via the external encoder.
